• Squaretable New division of roles in a gas sector in transition (4 4 2012)
  

  The energy market is changing rapidly and much less stable than a number of years ago. This is largely a consequence of the liberalization in the market initiated in 1998 and the necessity to speed up the energy transition under influence of European sustainability targets. A reduced stability in the sector results in a less natural division of roles and responsibilities in the area of innovation, between parties that are active in the sector. This also goes for the gas sector. 

  But who should take up responsibiltiy to make sure (natural) gas can play an optimal role in the energy transition? Is a shift taking place between private and public parties in terms of responsibilities? And is it beneficial that new yet fixed role descriptions are being formulated in this transition or is it more logical to guarantee flexibility in terms of roles?
